University Overview

Israel XP works in conjunction with Bar Ilan University to provide students with high-level general and Judaic studies, credits that are transferable to many North American universities, and an independent, vibrant dorm life. We offer the benefits of a relatively small, intimate program of approximately 120 English-speaking students, combined with the resources and infrastructure of a top notch university.

Classes take place at Bar Ilan University on Monday – Thursday. Judaic courses are offered at beginner and advanced levels each morning. Options include parsha, ethics, halacha, Talmud, contemporary issues, and a wide array of other topics

General studies courses are taught in the afternoons. The courses are similar to a typical freshman course load in North American universities, including English, Mathematics, Science, Psychology, Ulpan, Business and more.

All courses are taught in English.

At Israel XP, you will find your deepest questions answered in a warm, open environment. Here are just some of the many ways you can learn and grow:

Israel XP is open to all Jewish students, regardless of level of observance. Participants must observe the rules and expectations of the program, which includes Modern Orthodox observance of Shabbat, kashrut, attire, and behavior.

The Israel XP student dorms are located in Ramat Ef’al, in the heart of central Israel. Ramat Ef’al lies between Ramat Gan and Kiryat Ono, adjacent to Tel HaShomer hospital, and a brief walk to the Aluf Sadeh bus stop.

Bar Ilan University is located less than 10 minutes away, in Givat Shmuel. On Mondays through Thursdays, private buses shuttle students back and forth to the Bar Ilan University campus.

The dorms are just a 15 minute cab ride from downtown Tel Aviv, and an hour from Jerusalem, with nearby bus stops to both.

Staff families live on the secure site to create a safe and welcoming ‘home away from home’ environment.

There is a full time security guard (24/7) at the entrance to the dorm site. There is also a night guard at the entrance to Ramat Ef’al, the exclusive town is which the dorms are located.

There is an array of optional programming at the dorms each evening. We also offer a meal plan, and many amenities.

Tuition for the 2021-22 academic year:  $ 25,500

Tuition includes:

  • all classes and credits
  • trips
  • dormitory

  • night activities

Price is in US dollars.

Additional Costs to consider: airfare, mandatory health insurance, optional meal plan, school supplies, spending money, optional Poland trip.

We have rolling admission and acceptance, so we do not have application deadlines. However, we generally fill to capacity each term, so it is beneficial to apply early.

Every other week, we offer an exciting day trip. Trips include educational experiences, volunteer work, visiting Israel’s borders and understanding security needs, cultural immersion, and more.

Shabbat is a key element of your time in Israel, and we strive to bring you unforgettable experiences, replete with majestic locations, warm families, music and dancing, and delicious food. Throughout the year we offer a combination of ‘destination’ Shabbatonim in places such as Jerusalem, Tzfat, kibbutz and more; ‘community’ Shabbatonim in neighborhoods in Beit Shemesh, Judea and Samaria; and ‘free’ Shabbats where you can visit family or friends, or rest in the dorms.
